Laboratory Equipment

Un equipo de laboratorio es el conjunto de las diversas herramientas y sistemas utilizados por los científicos que trabajan en un laboratorio.

Nuestros estudiantes en la Sección Bilingüe (2º ESO) nos muestran una selección de los instrumentos, herramientas y equipos de prueba más comunes para procesos de medición, pesaje y control.

Laboratory equipment refers to the various tools and equipment used by scientists working in a laboratory.

Our students in the Bilingual Section (2^nd ESO) show us a selection of the most common test instruments, tools and equipment for measuring, weighing and control systems.

The Anglo-Saxon System of Units

The Anglo-Saxon system of units is a set of units currently used in the United States, the United Kingdom (although not for official documents) and some territories historically linked to these two countries. There are certain discrepancies between the United States and United Kingdom systems - where it is called the imperial system.

Our students in the Bilingual Section (2^nd ESO) have researched about it and have done some great work, comparing it to the International System of Units.

El sistema anglosajón de unidades es un conjunto de unidades de que se utiliza actualmente en los Estados Unidos, el Reino Unido (aunque no para documentos oficiales) y algunos territorios históricamente vinculados a estos dos países. ​ Existen ciertas discrepancias entre los sistemas de Estados Unidos y del Reino Unido —donde se denomina sistema imperial—.

Nuestros alumnos de la Sección Bilingüe (2º ESO) han investigado sobre ello y han realizado unos trabajos estupendos, comparándolo con el Sistema Internacional de Unidades.

PYJAMAS FOR CANCER!!! SPONSOR ME!!

This morning, our high school looked like a sleepover party but there wasn't any. Attending classes in pyjamas has been an initiative to raise funds to support the fight against cancer. Some students have been sponsored for wearing their outlandish, flashy pyjamas while others have just decided to donate some money. We are really proud of our generous students.  

Esta mañana nuestro instituto parecía una fiesta de pijamas, pero no lo era. El asistir a clase en pijama ha sido una iniciativa para recaudar fondos y apoyar la lucha contra el cáncer. Algunos alumnos han sido patrocinados por llevar puestos sus pijamas tan extravagantes y llamativos, mientras que otros simplemente han decidido colaborar donando dinero. Estamos orgullosísimos de tener unos alumnos tan generosos.

With our autumn festival right around the corner, we encourage you to take part in our yearly contest of desserts decorated with Halloween and autumnal motifs!!!! We are looking forward to seeing your fancy desserts! The mere thought makes our mouths water!!!

Female Writers’ Day / Día de las escritoras

Female Writers’ Day

Our bilingual students also wanted to do their little bit with our AMPA and the celebration of Female Writer’s Day by going deeply into their favourite female writers’ lives and making some videos about them. Some of them focused on writers from Extremadura, such as Pilar Galán Rodríguez, from Navalmoral, whereas others decided to work on outstanding English writers, such as Agatha Christie. Nuestros alumnos bilingües también quisieron poner su granito de arena en la celebración del día de las escritoras organizada por el AMPA, profundizando en las vidas de sus escritoras favoritas y haciendo algunos videos sobre ellas. Algunos de ellos se centraron en escritoras extremeñas como Pilar Galán Rodríguez, de Navalmoral, mientras que otros decidieron hablarnos sobre escritoras inglesas destacadas como Agatha Christie. Female writers: Doris Lessing, the 2007 Nobel Literature Laureate

Last friday some of our bilingual students commemorated the 12th anniversary of the Nobel Prize in Literature awarded to the British-Zimbabwean writer Doris Lessing. They used their research skills to delve into her fascinating life and works and they took advantage of the tablets to present some facts about her writings in the library.

El pasado viernes algunos de nuestros estudiantes bilingües conmemoraron el 12° aniversario del Premio de Nobel de Literatura otorgado a la escritora británica-zimbabuense Doris Lessing. Los alumnos utilizaron sus habilidades de investigación para profundizar en su fascinante vida y obras y aprovecharon las tabletas electrónicas disponibles para presentar algunos hechos sobre sus escritos en la biblioteca.

REMEMBERING THE VICTIMS OF THE HOLOCAUST (Non bilingual activities)

IES Albalat is honoring the dead in holocaust devoting a week of peace with many tips and activities  to send messages of love and harmony. Here are some of the texts and videos we have played in class so that our students could understand what really  happened. Thanks to PMAR 1 and PMAR 2 groups, always happy to take part in our projects.

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

Emotional intelligence is one of this year's projects at school and the English Department are working with bilingual and non-bilingual students to develop and improve their vocabulary on emotions and feelings. Here's an example of one of the videos we've watched in the classroom.

A MASK CONTEST

It is Carnival soon and in the IES Albalat we are going to celebrate a mask contest decorated by students. From 18th to 22nd of Februry all the students will have to give their teachers their masks. The week before Carnival, the students will decide which is the best mask. The winner will receive a ticket for the cafeteria.
