THE VIEWERS POINT OF VIEW

The 23 of April we saw a performance of "Hamlet". This tragedy was written by William Shakespeare at an uncertain date between 1599 and 1602. Set in Denmark, the play dramatizes the revenge Prince Hamlet is called to wreak upon his uncle, Claudius, by the ghost of Hamlet's father, King Hamlet

This perform was represented by our brave mates of 1º A. They are great actors! Although the dialogs were long and difficult, they did a good job and we could understand them quite well.

The play was during about half an hour, and in all that time there were lots of characters, and the background was very beautiful and perfect for the tragedy.

To sum up I really enjoyed the play and I congratulate my mates for their great job.

ANNA FRANK.

This year, we commemorated the Holocaust anniversary and we the fourth bilingual groups we worked on Anna Frank because it was the reading book last year. We can consider this project as part of a bigger project connecting the whole high school. This project is called “Ciudad de las mujeres”. With this group we watched a film about Anna´s life, we talked about the Jewish situation during the second war world and finally the class made a poster about this amazing writer.

ALMA ROSÉ

IES Albalat is joining the events commemorating the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, a memorial day on 27 January, because on 27 January 1945, Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration and death camp, was liberated by the Red Army.

A Music lesson will deal with Alma Rosé (3 November 1906 – 5 April 1944) who was an Austrian violinist of Jewish descent. Her uncle was the composer Gustav Mahler. She was deported by the Nazis to the concentration camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau. There, for 10 months, she conducted an orchestra of prisoners who played in order to stay alive. Rosé died in the concentration camp of a sudden illness.

We will watch and translate this documentary:

And we will listen to this performance:
